125g Reef Tank Sump
DIY

I built the sump from a piece of 1/4th sheet of plexi-glass. You can buy 24" x 48" pieces at Lowes for about 35 dollars a sheet. Since I made it from 1/4" I braced all the way down the middle as seen below. I have never had a problem doing this with my old sump.
I got my sump ideas from Melev's Reef.

The sump measures 48" long, 15" wide, 21" tall. The skimmer area is 12" long, the grow area is 24" long and the return pump area is 12" long.
The working level of the sump holds 40 gallons with enough room for a 20g overflow incase of power or pump failure.

I have two Home Depot lights on it and get incredible growth rate. I have a small amount of cheato in the sump here as I weeded out a 5 gallon bucket from the old sump that had intertwined with grape carlupa. I do not want anymore grape carlupa as it overgrows everything. I have 4 mangrove trees from Exotic Aquatics and Pets that are doing great.
