18 Wheeler Rollover on Highway 146

The tanker was transporting 43,000 pounds of Vinylpyrrolidone of flammable liquid. The driver was attempting to make a delivery to ISP when he apparently turned to sharp onto Attwater Avenue. The rear end of the trailer fell into the water filled ditch which caused the entire vehicle to rollover.
No injuries were reported and there was no threat to the outside community according to Texas City Patrol Commander Anthony Morgan.
Capt. Mark Allen and his crew of the Texas City Fire Department was responsible for the removal of the overturned 18 wheeler. Capt. Allen stated that much of the chemical had to be transfered to another tanker before it could be turned back over.
It took some large airbags and 2 heavy wreckers to upright the 18 wheeler.
The accident came in at 6:43am and was not cleared until approximately 3:30pm. Capt. Allen stated that the operation took all day as there were many steps that had to be taken to ensure worker and community safety.
