Early Morning wreck on HWY 146
09JUL04

This wreck happened just North of the Dickinson Bayou bridge. The Nissan truck pulled out in front of the 18-wheeler. The driver of the Nissan had a load of newspapers in the bed ready for delivery.

The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the driver that was pinned in the vehicle. He was then transported to UTMB with minor injuries. The incident left newspapers scattered all over the highway.

This section of road has become a frequent place for major accidents as people pull out from the intersection in front of oncoming traffic.

Update: I recieved this email from the drivers wife.

My husband was admitted to UTMB and was found to have a severely lacerated spleen...He JUST got out today and had to stay in ICU for all but 2 of those days.

One of the nurses, Husbands works there, "Joe"....
I wanted to take a minute to THANK YOU ...although it ISNT AND COULDN'T be enough...for saving his life. He was up and talking after the wreck...who would have known he had such a serious injury...
If it weren't for the incredibly brave and intelligent members of your team, he wouldn't be here with me today.

Thank you all...Thank God for you!

Sincerely,
Tammy Miller-JUREK...and I say that PROUDLY!!!
